The Sydney Morning Herald recently published on-line a great interview with Angela Vithoulkas, owner and manager of the award winning VIVO Cafes in Sydney City, asking “Why aren’t there more women in senior positions”?
Angela advised that networking, making connections and asking for jobs are crucial areas for women to address.
“Many women choose to then start a business to achieve both personal and professional growth. In my case, and with virtually no education, I was unlikely to ever gain a senior role in the corporate world. By running and growing my own business and demanding recognition from the corporate world, I believe things have changed for me - but not without disappointment and rejection!” Angela advised.
Thankfully for ambitious entrepreneurs, small business is one area where you can find a lot of successful business women, Angela Vithoulkas from Vivo Cafe Group and Price Attack co-owner Carol Jarred advised.
Angela also discussed the glass ceiling, maternity leave and the benefits of having your own business compared to working for someone else.
