Angela Vithoulkas of VIVO Cafe Group was recently MC for an event organised by GoFundraise titled “Franchising in our community: doing well by doing good”. The event raised money for Camp Quality and provided drinks, canapes and inspiration from three guest speakers.
For people in franchising who are passionate about making a difference and supporting charities, the event provided great inspiration for them to get involved in fundraising. Helping others, giving back to the community and being involved with charities is often at the back of franchisors’ and franchisees’ minds but many are not sure where to start or what they can do.
Angela Vithoulkas, the multi-award winning Co-Founder and Director of VIVO Cafe Group, a highly successful group of cafes operating in Sydney CBD is passionate about small business and social responsibility.
Her passion for business and astute strategic vision have won her numerous awards including City of Sydney Business of the Year & NSW Entrepreneur Of The Year. Angela was also the winner of the 2007 Telstra NSW Business Owner Award. Angela is an enthusiastic advocate for entrepreneurial owner-operators.
The three inspiring speakers at the event were:
Dr Sam Price - Emagine
Dr Sam Prince a medical doctor, aid worker and franchisor who has used his skills in business to help give healthcare and education to the developing world. Sam’s foundation, ‘Emagine’ has provided resources to build 15 schools and given basic healthcare to over 4,000 kids around the world.
Grant Allsopp - Walker Wayland
Grant Allsopp a director at Walker Wayland, an accounting firm that has made corporate and social responsibility part of their business practice. Grant discussed how being green actually saves you money and showed how one person, doing just one green activity, does positively impact the planet.
Ian Krawitz - 10 Thousand Trees
Ian Krawitz spoke about 10 Thousand Trees, a paper offset initiative that aims to inspire proactive planting of enough trees to offset paper used in printing and create a sustainable paper resource for Australia and the world for generations to come.
The event was a success and inspiration for all who attended and at the same time raised money for Camp Quality. Camp Quality will hold approximately 240 recreational camps and recreational activities this year throughout Australia for children living with cancer and their families.
