Charities Supported by VIVO CafeBesides providing sensational coffee, exceptional food and good service, the VIVO family is committed to providing help and assistance to a number of worthwhile local charities as detailed below.OzHARVEST - Food RescueOzHarvest operates food rescue programs in Sydney, Wollongong and Canberra by collecting fresh food which would otherwise be thrown away by delis, restaurants, corporate offices etc and providing it to charities who support the disadvantaged and at risk communities. VIVO Cafe is a regular contributor by donating good quality food for people in need. MRS AUSTRALIA WORLD - KAREN MILESVIVO Cafe is an official sponsor of Karen Miles, the 2011/12 Mrs Australia World. The Mrs Australia Quest proudly supports Ovarian Cancer Australia. OCA provides support to women with ovarian cancer, their families, friends and careers with compassionate support programs and practical resources. 50% of all online voting for the Mrs Australia Quest for finalists is donated to OCA. BEST BUDDIES AUSTRALIABest Buddies Australia is a fantastic non-profit organisation which pairs people who have an intellectual disability with volunteers in order to create wonderful friendships. The Best Buddies organisation spans across 40 countries and works tirelessly to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. VIVO Cafe supporst Best Buddies by hosting events for their members and families. RARE DISEASE DAY - Association of Genetic Support of Australasia (AGSA)AGSA is a network of people who are affected by genetic conditions, either directly or indirectly. We collaborate with organisations nationally and internationally such as the International Genetic Alliance representing 16 countries around the world. SYDNEY BREAST CANCER FOUNDATIONVIVO Cafe has a large involvement with the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation by helping with and hosting various fundraising events and functions. Angela Vithoulkas is also on the Pink Ribbon Ball Organising Committee which involves securing sponsorship and event planning. NELUNE FOUNDATIONVIVO Cafe has been supporting the Nelune Foundation for many years. The Nelune Foundation is a not for profit charity that supports children, adolescents, adults and their families to cope with the impact of cancer by providing emotional support, care and post-operative medical aids that are not covered by Government or private funding. THE EYE FOUNDATIONThe Eye Foundation provides funding for eye-health research, education and training. Angela Vithoulkas is on the Advisory Committee and has an active part in the 'JULeye' campaign. CANTEENCanTeen is the Australian national support organisation for young people (aged 12-24) living with cancer. VIVO gets involved with Canteen on their Bandanna Day as well as various fundraising events and functions. THE THALASSAEMIA SOCIETY OF NSWThe Thalassaemia Society of NSW's mission is to provide social support and advocacy for patients and carers of patients with thalassaemia, sickle cell anaemia, blackfan diamond disorder and other haemoglobinopathies, while providing funding for treatment, medical equipment, research and education.
